Sri Sathya Sai Baba tells us our goal in life is to seek to understand and become one with God. Baba has said it is "part of our human nature to desire to reach the presence of the Almighty, see Him and be ever with Him."

The Sathya Sai International Organisation provides many activities for participants to enable them to achieve the goal of life. Common to all activities is the cultivation of the understanding of our own nature, and of our goal in life. Both these aims are achieved in the Organisation by strengthening our capacity to love all people in every different station in life, and to love people of different races, castes, creeds and religions.

"As the oil is to the flame in the lamp, Bhakti (devotion to God) is to the flame of Jnana (spiritual wisdom)." - Jnana Vahini, page 32

The Devotion Wing assists to meet the ultimate goal by focussing on:

  • Group devotional singing and prayers,
  • Meditation,
  • Sadhana Camps and retreats,
  • Inter-faith activities,
  • Newcomers’ programmes and
  • Arranging pilgrimages to Prasanthi Nilayam and
  • Arranging other activities designed to strengthen one’s faith and devotion to God, and one’s understanding and practice of universal spiritual knowledge.

"One can be liberated now by the spiritual practice of singing the glory of the Lord and listening to the Name being sung. … It can help the process of liberation not only for the members of the group … the whole world can benefit by the vibrations." – Sathya Sai Baba, 26 January 1982

"The main objective of the Sathya Sai Organization ... is to help you recognize the divinity inherent in you. So, your duty is to emphasize the One, to experience the One in all you do or speak. Do not give importance to differences of religion, sect, status, or color. Have the feeling of one-ness permeate all your acts. Only those who do so have a place in this Organization; the rest can withdraw."
