The Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation (SSSIO), the Mother body of the South African Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIOSA), is widely known as a dynamic Spiritual and Humanitarian Organisation founded by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Avatar of the Kali Age. (Avatar’ means ‘Divinity Incarnate in Human Form’).
Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s mission is simply based on re-establishing the principles of Righteousness, on fostering love for God and for undertaking service to fellow man.
He has consistently called on all mankind to Love All, Serve All and has repeatedly asserted that the essence of all scriptures is Help Ever, Hurt Never!
“The uniqueness of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization consists in the fact that it regards seva (selfless service) as a form of service to the Divinity that is inherent in each being. The bliss that is derived from such service is incomparable. It is a spiritual experience.” (SSS Vol XVI, CH-27).
In addition to being a spiritual organisation the SSSIOSA has at the forefront of all its activities the focus in helping humanity to recognize its inherent divinity. Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has provided the tools for propagating Education in Human Values through EDUCARE, SOCIOCARE AND MEDICARE - which takes the form of provisions for all kinds of assistance to those in need. This may be by way of: - food, clothing, providing drinking water and the provision of spiritual guidance. The innumerable discourses and lessons delivered by HIMSELF during his physical sojourn on the earthly plane form the vast resources of His divine books and publications available worldwide. Against this backdrop, the Sri Sathya Sai Groups and Centres provide the platform for the practice and development of spiritual activities on a continuous basis.
Baba’s cautionary words tell it all: “The Organisations named after Me are not to be used for publicising My Name or creating a new cult around My worship. They must try to spread interest in reciting God’s name, meditation, and other spiritual exercises that lead man Godward. They must demonstrate the joy derivable from devotional singing and remembering the Lord’s Name, and the peace that one can draw from good company. They must render selfless service to help the helpless, the sick, the distressed, the illiterate and the needy. Their service should not be exhibitionistic; it must seek no reward, not even gratitude or thanks from the recipients.” – Sri Sathya Sai Baba, 23 Februrary 1968.
South Africa has been blessed to have about 120 Sri Sathya Sai Centres and Groups. Within the sprawling South African multicultural and diverse population, the Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation now enjoys much relevance and is growing in momentum, reaching out into the townships organically. On account of its vast physical landscape, there are many socio-economic, political, socio-political, gender and other complex issues facing the country at present. The SSSIO-SA has comfortably and confidently established itself as a Service Organisation of great compassion and benevolence, always extending selfless assistance across the length and breadth of the country to all in need, irrespective of race, caste, colour or creed, rich or poor.
The Organisation in South African also operates three Sathya Sai Schools situated in Lenasia, (Gauteng) Chatsworth and Newcastle (Kwa Zulu Natal) . All three Sathya Sai Schools are value based schools and offer a unique dimension to mainstream education in South Africa.
The Sai Organisation welcomes anyone who accepts the ethos of the Organisation and who is willing unconditionally to partake fully in this vast ocean of Bliss and Joy, which is the bedrock foundation of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s calling.
